Anicropedia

“Interaction Programming and the Dynamic Web” at KTH
Anicropedia is a companion website for the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It allows users to manage collectible items, villagers, and music tracks within the game. Anicropedia features a music player to play the music from the game. Animal Crossing plays hourly music that changes depending on the weather conditions in the game. We embraced that concept and implemented it into real-life time and weather, making the website play music from the game that perfectly matches the user’s current hour and weather conditions.
Development Process
Anicropedia was created through the collaborative efforts of a four-person team. The team had a weekly sprint plan where the following week was discussed and new tasks were assigned to each team member.
The UX and UI were a big priority for this project. The goal was to make Anicropedia in the same style as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, to make feel and look familiar to the players using it. Before implementing the website, we designed the whole layout together in Figma. The Figma prototype was then used for user testing, allowing the team to identify any flaws or areas for improvement before proceeding further.
The website was then created using React. The entire implementation process was characterized by great teamwork, with all team members working closely together to achieve the desired outcome. The things I worked on were implementing the routing system for the website, implementing and styling the menu bar, implementing and styling the “My Island” page, and optimizing screens for mobile devices.
The team was really satisfied with the outcome of Anicropedia. It’s still online, check it out or watch the demo video showcasing it.
Other team members: Adam Cerven, Ben Esdor and Kári Steinn Aðalsteinsson.
